Play Ball Video Baserunning Lessons, Drills, and Tips

Baserunning should not be one of those areas of the game that should be overlooked. Most successful programs are able to produce runs each game through good solid baserunning technique. It is important for coaches of all levels to incorporate all of the following baserunning fundamentals in their practice time:

  • Proper leads from each bag
  • Good secondary leads
  • Taking the extra base
  • Proper turns at each bag
  • Reading the ball off of the bat
  • Picking up the coach
  • Learning pitcher moves and patterns
  • Proper slides

It's known as a game of inches and the one extra step on a lead, or a good read on a slow roller in the infield to score a run, may be the difference in your team winning or losing.

Below you will find a number of lessons to help you in this important, yet often dismissed part of the game.
